Martina Rasche, 48, St. Anthony

Martin RascheMartina Rasche, 48, of St. Anthony, died Monday (August 11) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born October 15, 1965, in Drummullan, Northern Ireland, to Arthur and Gertrude (Hampsey) Conway. She married Martin “Bud” Rasche July 14, 1999, in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois.

Martin was an English teacher. She taught in private schools in Kuwait City, Kuwait, from 1996 until 2003. Recently she served as a teacher aid for Patoka School in the Crawford County School Corporation. A member of St. Celestine Catholic Church, she was a Daisy Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed reading, music, nature, and spending time with people.

She is survived by Martin “Bud” Rasche; one daughter, Aoibhinn “Eveing” Rasche, St. Anthony; her mother, Gertrude Conway, Northern Ireland; one sister, Bernette Conlon and husband Anthony, Northern Ireland; and four brothers, Brian Conway and wife Pat, London, England, and Sean Conway and wife Sinead, Kieran Conway and wife Una, and Noel Conway and wife, Gwen, all of Northern Ireland.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Conway, one sister, Colette Conway, one brother, Paul Conway, and one brother who died in infancy, Blaze Conway.

Services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
