Pike County Man Arrested For Leaving Scene Of Accident

An Otwell area man was arrest Saturday morning for allegedly leaving the scene of a property damage accident west of Ireland.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department was called to the 2900 block of North 750 West at about 5 o’clock Saturday morning where a wrecked wrecked, abandoned SUV was found.  DCSD says the vehicle is believed to be the one that was involve in property damage a couple miles away along North 800 West.

The driver, 23-year old Jacob Robinette of rural Otwell.

DCSD says Robinette is alleged to have been traveling northbound on North 750 West near West 200 North, when his SUV struck a mailbox at 2292 North 750 West as well as a utility pole support wire owned by Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative.  The SUV also damaged two rows of corn owned by a local farmer before it left the scene.

DCSD says the SUV sustained between $1,000 and $2,500 in damage.
