Mary Ann Bonifer, 76, Jasper

Mary Ann BoniferMary Ann Bonifer, 76, of Jasper, died Saturday (August 9) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper October 24, 1937, to Leo and Anna Mae (Wehr) Hochgesang. She married Ron Bonifer December 27, 1969, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Mary Ann was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Jasper D of I, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and crocheting and made prayer shawls for Holy Family Church. She also enjoyed spending time with family and attending their activities.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Bonifer; two daugthters, Renee Humphrey and husband David, Evansville, and Rachelle Bonifer, Kannapolis, North Carolina; one son, Mark Hopf, Charlotte, North Carolina; one grandson, Luke Hopf and wife Emily, Winston Salem, North Carolina; and one great-grandson, Julian Hopf.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Hilary, Melvin, and Allen Hochgesang.

Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church. The Jasper D of I will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
