JASPER – A Dubois County Sheriff’s Department patrol car (pictured) was damaged when it was struck by a deer on Jasper’s far southside.

DCSD says Deputy Brad Kendall was travelling east on West CR100 South just west of Kimball Blvd. when a large deer ran into the roadway from the north.
Kendall says the deer jumped just before being struck by his patrol car.   The impact caused significant damage to the patrol car.   Kendall suffered minor cuts to his arms from broken glass.
Kendalls K-9 partner, Judge, was in the patrol car at the time of the crash but was not injured.   The 2010 Ford Crown Victoria was a total loss.
The deer was put down by officers on the scene.
DCSD says a different patrol vehicle is being equipped with the help of Harmonics Electronics to allow Kendall and his K-9 partner to be patrolling within the next 24 hours.
