Jasper, IN –  DC Multisport is excited to host the second annual Ferdinand Folk Fest Fondo on September 20-21, 2014 in conjunction with the Ferdinand Folk Festival – a bicycling event designed to entertain all levels of bicyclists. This tour of Dubois and neighboring Counties will be one to bring you back year after year to marvel at the rural landscapes, enjoy some of the smoothest county roads in the state, and partake in an abundance of FREE family-friendly activities to keep you entertained well into the evening.

For the inaugural event in 2013 approximately 70 cyclists from the surrounding area and throughout the state of Indiana, including Lafayette, Indianapolis, Bedford, & Louisville, KY participated in the event. In 2014 we are hoping to bring cyclists from the entire Midwest to enjoy the beautiful scenery & rolling hills of Southern Indiana.

On Saturday, the multiple routes will cater to a variety of interests and abilities. One of the main features is a SAG stop at historic League Stadium and a pedal through the charming Victorian-styled business district in Huntingburg, Indiana. The long route briefly visits the city of Jasper, Indiana before turning southeast toward the small town of St. Anthony and putting your legs to the test on the increasingly difficult hills near the Ferdinand State Forest.

A new addition to the event will be a 4.5 mile route for children to participate in. It will begin at 10am on Saturday, taking the kids through the town of Ferdinand with volunteers placed throughout the route to assist with directions and traffic. Any child under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult.

On Sunday, a single route option will take adventurous spirits past the stunning St. Meinrad Archabbey, over some leg burning hills to the hidden town of Bristow, Indiana past the Hoffman Mill Covered Bridge (stop for a minute to read the Historical marker), through the perpetually festive town of Santa Claus (home to Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari), and back to Ferdinand over lightly traveled undulating roads.

Proceeds for the cycling event will be given to the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand who are collaborating with the Family Scholar House of Louisville to bring a new service to Dubois County to fight poverty through education. In 2013 we were able to donate $5,071.00 to this life changing program.
