A Jasper woman, seriously injured in an accident back on July 15th in Kentucky, is scheduled to be released from a rehabilitation hospital Wednesday.

The Lyon County Kentucky Sheriff’s Department says 34-year old Jennifer Tolbert was injured when the golf cart she was riding in with her husband and a friend crashed in a residential neighborhood on Lake Barkley near Eddyville.

The sheriff’s department says the golf cart was driven by 39-year old Phil Tolbert.  The sheriff’s department says at about 9:20 CST the night of July 15th, Tolbert lost control of the golf cart in a curve and it overturned and crashed.

Jennifer Tolbert was air evacuated from the scene to Vanderbilt University’s Medical Center in Nashville, TN with what the sheriff’s department spokesman says were serious head injuries.

Phil Tolbert was taken to the hospital in Eddyville with minor injuries; the passenger on the cart with them was not hurt.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Tolbert was discharged from Vanderbilt Medical Center on July 24th.  She was then transferred to the Frazier Rehabilitation Institute at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky where she has been recovering from her injuries since.  She is expected to be released Wednesday (August 6th) to return home to Jasper.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department says the accident does remain under investigation.
