An Evansville man was taken into custody Monday afternoon near Huntingburg charged with cocaine and marijuana possession.

Indiana State Police arrested 25-year old Eric Crowe after police received a tip about possible drug activity involving Crowe.  An ISP trooper and his K-9 partner, along with a Farbest Foods security officer contacted Crowe in the Farbest parking lot.  ISP says a gray sock was found on the ground where Crowe had just walked.  ISP says a white powder and plant material were found in the sock.  A field test on the substances found them to be cocaine and marijuana.

Police said the white powder field tested positive for cocaine and the plant material field tested positive for marijuana.

Crowe is now charged with a  Level 5 felony count of Cocaine Possession and a misdemeanor count of Marijuana Possession.

A Level 5 felony under Indiana’s new criminal code is similar to a Class C felony under the old code.   A Level 5 felony carries a possibly penalty, upon conviction, of a fixed term between one (1) year and six (6) years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.00.
