A Birdseye man was taken into custody Saturday afternoon on a drug charge following a traffic stop in his hometown.

A Dubois County sheriff’s deputy says he spotted 28-year old Stephen Clapp knowing that Clapp had a suspended driver’s license.  This was at about 2pm Saturday.

The deputy pulled over the car he says Clapp was driving.  DCSD says Clapp’s driving status was confirmed.  The deputy also found a plastic bag with what appeared to be a folded coffee filter in it.  DCSD says inside the filter was a white powdery substance.

A field test determined the substance was methamphetamine.

Clapp was taken to the Dubois County Security Center charge with a felony count of Possession of Methamphetimine.  He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of Driving While Suspended with a Prior Conviction for the same offense.
