A traffic stop on Jasper’s far southside early Thursday resulted in two local men┬ábeing charged; one taken into custody.

Jasper police says they pulled over a pickup truck on Indiana 162 just near Lube Way for a traffic stop. They soon discovered the driver of the truck, 24-year old Anthony Wilkins of Holland was driving on a suspended license. Wilkins was arrested back on May 23rd for Leaving The Scene of a Property Damage Accident and Public Intoxication. He was arrested a week earlier (May 15th) for Reckless Driving and Resisting Law Enforcment.

After being pulled over Thursday morning, Wilkins gave consent to a JPD officer to search his vehicle. Police say they found a prescription for Tramadol written out for someone other than Wilkins and a passenger in Wilkin’s truck. The passenger, 26-year old Richard Looney of rural Dubois.

Jasper police say Looney admitted to stealing the prescription out of one of his co-worker’s vehicle at Monster Recycling in Jasper.

Looney has been charged with theft and illegal possession of a legend (prescription) drug.

Looney was also arrested earlier this year. On June 16th, he was arrested for Operating A Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated-Endangerment.
