Bombers Lose At Fulton; Split Season Series With Railroaders

bombers logFULTON, KY – The Railroaders evened and ended their 10 game season series with the Bombers in a 3-0 shutout in Fulton. The game only saw scoring in the 3rd inning with good pitching and defensive plays when needed, Both teams overcame two errors each, and together they produced 14 hits with the Railroaders getting 8 and the Bombers taking 6.


Fulton’s scoring in the 3rd began with a one out single for Conner Hill who then advanced to 2nd base on a wild pitch. Tyler Hardin walked and Jeremiah Spring singled to load the bases. After after the next out, Troy Squires singled for a RBI, followed by Greg Fettes hitting a 2 RBI single to complete scoring.

Dubois County’s best at the plate was Dane Giesler who was 2 for 3. The Bombers left 7 men on base and the Railroaders stranded 8.

The winner on the mound for the Railroaders was Fernando Gonzalez, his third on the year. Gonzalez pitched a full 8 innings allowing 6 hits and one walk while striking out 6 batters. Keaton Baker took his third save finishing off the 9th inning with no hits, one walk and a strikeout.

Nick Gobert takes the loss throwing for 6 innings giving up the 8 hits and 3 earned runs. He walked 2 and struck out 4 at the plate.. Tyler Nichols cleaned up for the Bombers with two innings of hitless ball, no walks and had 3 strikeouts.

The victory moves third place Fulton up 1-1/2 games ahead of Dubois County, and 2 games behind Hoptown who lost to Madisonville. The Railroaders will play the Hoppers on Wednesday in Fulton.
