Semi Hauling Animal Fat Turns Onto Its Side; Driver Avoids Serious Injury

A semi-truck & trailer hauling animal fat overturned just west of the Holland Junction of Indiana 64 Saturday morning.
53-year old Bernard Jackson of Linton told Dubois County deputies he was westbound on 64 shortly before 9am when he came upon a vehicle that was stopped on the highway waiting to turn left into a private drive.  This was about a mile west of Indiana 161.
Jackson says he was unable to stop in time and went off the road to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision.
DCSD says when the semi-tractor and open-bed cargo trailer went off the roadway it turned onto its side.   Jackson was initially trapped inside the vehicle, but was freed by first-responders when they arrived on scene.
Jackson was hauling a load of animal fat.  About 1/2 of the load spilled during the crash.  It took nearly seven hours to clean up the site.
Jackson was transported by Memorial EMS for treatment minor injuries.
