JASPER – The Jasper Police Department is now providing overtime hours to increase traffic enforcement targeting impaired and dangerous drivers.

Thanks to funding provided by Dubois County Substance Abuse Council, the police department will have increased traffic patrols during peak hours to help keep the community safe and impaired drivers off the roads.

This funding was awarded to the Jasper Police Department by the Dubois County Substance Abuse Council for overtime enforcement, but ultimately this funding has come from violators who have been convicted of a crime.    The intention of the funding is that violators who have been convicted are now paying towards officers’ efforts to prevent future violations.

The Jasper Police Department is really enthusiastic to be a part of this extra enforcement and want to remind citizens to be sober while driving in Dubois County.  In the past two years, Dubois County has seen an increase in crash-related fatalities with many of them involving an impaired driver.  We hope that this funding will help to decrease future crashes and make Dubois County safer.
