Clint Eichmiller with the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department says the 30×60 metal building fully ablaze just about 150 feet north of Mr. Buttery’s residence on North Hickory Grove Road.
Clint (Buttrey) says he was home at the time but was mowing on the other side of his property for about an hour before he noticed smoke coming from the building and called 911. That was shortly before 8:30pm.
He was able to move some pieces of equipment and a truck away from the building before they were damaged.
Mr. Buttery states that he had been doing some welding in the shop around 4:00 p.m. earlier in the day but there was nothing abnormal when he was finished with the project.
All contents of the building were destroyed including a large number of tools and other personal belongings. Clint states that the building was insured.
There were three trucks and 26 firemen from Dubois responding to the scene and Lost River Township supported with one tanker and 9 men. Memorial EMS stood by at the scene but there were no injuries. Units were on the scene for about two hours.
