A tip from the public has led to the arrest of a Jasper man on several drug charges.

19-year old Austin Elliott was arrested Tuesday at his home in the 200 block of West 12th Avenue.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says Elliott was sitting on the front porch of the house when they arrived on scene Tuesday afternoon. DCSD says they found 11 plastic bags containing what they described as a green leafy substance which was later identified as synthetic marijuana along with two glass smoking pipes, a digital scale and a grinder.

DCSD says Elliott admitted the items on the porch were his and admitted he was selling the synthetic marijuana.   DCSD says Elliott also consented to a search of the house. Inside the home, DCSD says they found two additional smoking pipes and a glass water bong. They says they also found a and a tablet which they say was a Schedule II controlled substance of which Elliott did not have a prescription.

Elliott was taken into custody. He’s charged with Class D felony counts of Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Dealing a Controlled Substance along with llegal possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.
