Shirley Ann Payne, 77, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (April 29) at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born March 25, 1937, in Ferdinand, to Roman and Evelyn (Whipking) Zink. She married Edward I. Payne August 7, 1957, in Shawneetown, Illinois.
Shirley was a homemaker, a regular attendee at the Dale Bible Church, and enjoyed having her family as the center of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Edward I. Payne; four daughters, Pam Payne, Evansville, Debbie Smith, Huntingburg, Sharlene Schitter and husband Ron, Jasper, and Julie Eckert and husband Mike, Holland; three sons, Ed Payne, Jr., Huntingburg, Jon Payne and wife Cheryl, West Baden, and Kevin Payne, Princeton; two sisters, Kathy Nelson, Petersburg, and Barbara Tredway and husband Zonia, Huntingburg; two brothers, James Zink, Sr., Huntingburg, and Terry Zink, Sr. and wife Debbie, Jasper; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services 10 a.m. (EDT) Friday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Nick Clark will officiate at the services.
