Huntingburg’s South Water Tank Maintenance Work to Cause Water Pressure Decrease

huntingburg From Rachel Steckler/City of Huntingburg

Huntingburg, Ind. – The City of Huntingburg’s Water Department will perform maintenance work and renovations to the south water tank, which is located near Southridge High School, beginning Friday, May 2, 2014.

The inside and outside of the tank will be inspected, cleaned and painted. A new water-freshening mixing system will also be installed to better maintain chlorine strength, prevent ice formation and increase overall water freshness.

In order to perform the maintenance work, the tower will be drained, which will cause a decrease in water pressure to some customers – especially for residents on the south side of Huntingburg.  Expect pressure to decrease late Friday evening through Monday, May 5.  Water pressure will continue to be lower than normal through Sunday, June 15.

The entire restoration process is being overseen on the city’s behalf by both a professional engineer and an independent water tank inspection service.

Please understand that this process is being completed in order to maintain and further increase water quality within the City of Huntingburg’s public water system.  We thank you for your patience and understanding.
