Injuries Reported In Separate Accidents

accidentA Birdseye teenager escaped serious injury in a rollover accident Wednesday afternoon along Club Road about halfway between St. Anthony and Ferdinand.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 16-year old Savannah Voegerl was driving north on Club Road just north of East 750 South when she lost control of the SUV after a tire blowout.

DCSD says the vehicle went left of center and off the west side of the Club Road. The SUV then struck a tree which caused the vehicle to roll over coming to rest upright facing south.

Voegerl was transported to Memorial Hospital with pain to her head, lower back and left leg. DCSD says the SUV was a total loss. The accident happened shortly after 3pm Wednesday.

Meanwhile, four people were not seriously injured after being involved in an SUV/pickup truck accident in Ireland.

DCSD says 15-year old Emily Biggs of Jasper was driving south on North 500 West when the SUV entered the intersection with Indiana 56, a westbound pickup truck driven by 67-year old Charles Blunk of rural Ireland struck the SUV’s driver’s side. Biggs’ father, 40-year old Brian Biggs was in the front seat of the SUV with Emily.

Blunk told DCSD deputies he thought he had the green light at the intersection but was not sure because of the sun’s glare. The accident happened shortly after 5:30 Wednesday afternoon. Two other family members were in the SUV. All four complained of pain but were not transported to the hospital.

DCSD says the accident remains under investigation.
