Loraine BloomeLoraine Blume, 94, of Huntingburg, died Monday (April 7) at Brookside Village Senior Living Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper October 18, 1919, to Robert and Mary (Harker) Denk. She married Gustav Blume August 19, 1937, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper. He died August 25, 1983.

Loraine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.

Surviving are six daughters, Rose Marie “Rosie” Bartley and husband Ralph, Jasper, Jeanette Becher and husband Frank, Ferdinand, Phyllis Lilly and husband David, Georgetown, Carole Sue Tabor and husband Chuck, Clemmons, North Carolina, Roberta Miller and husband Donald, Longmont, Colorado., and Vicki Dall and husband Steve, Indianapolis; three sons, Donald Blume and wife Patricia, Huntingburg, Gus A. Blume and wife Debbie, Ferdinand, and Ken Blume and wife Lyn, Huntingburg; ¬†sister-in-law, Rose Lee Denk, Jasper; 30 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Denk, one grandson, Braden Miller, and two great-grandchildren.

Services at 10 a.m. (EDT) Thursday at St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg with burial following in the church cemetery. Father Ryan Hilderbrand will officiate. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A rosary will be prayed at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
