Hilda M. Rahman, 90, Ferdinand

HildaHilda M. Rahman, 90, of Ferdinand, died Sunday (April 6) at her home. She was born February 25, 1924, in Ferdinand to Theodore and Anna (Kerstiens) Metzger. She married Linus F. Rahman August 26, 1947, in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He died November 4, 2013.

Hilda was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and its St. Ann’s Sodality, the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Ladies Auxiliary, and Ferdinand Daughters Of Isabella. She volunteered at Saint Meinrad Archabbey and quilted for St. Ferdinand Parish. She enjoyed quilting, baking, and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, Alan and wife Georgia, Eddie and wife Gloria, Steve and wife Angie, all of Ferdinand, and Frank and wife Mary, Santa Claus; seven daughters, Marcella “Sally” Harpenau and husband Paul, Branchville, Margie Hoffman and husband Dave,  Mary Jo Giesler and husband Bill, and Doris Klem and husband Bernard “Butch,” all of Ferdinand, Carol Lueken and husband Kenny , Hatfield, Missouri,  Martha Demuth and husband Charlie, St. Meinrad, and Connie Mundy and husband Steve, Jasper; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Verena Mehling and Mary Rahman.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home. Services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
