Dorothy Mae Blessinger, 86, of Jasper, died Saturday (April 5) at her home. She was born June 15, 1927, in St. Anthony, to Clement and Catherine (Haas) Hasenour. She married Edwin J. Blessinger September 9, 1950, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. He died April 28, 1968.
Dorothy owned and operated the Welcome Inn Bar and Restaurant in Jasper for over 50 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Dalton andhusband Dave, Jasper, and Ann Hadley and husband Rob, Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Kevin Blessinger and wife Barb, and Gerald Blessinger, all of Jasper; daughter-in-law Kristie (Werne) Blessinger, Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren, Tim Dalton, Paula Obermeier, and Travis, Tori, and Trevor Blessinger; three sisters, Marian Hopf and husband Tom, Jasper, Laverne Begle and husband Hilary, Ferdinand, and Kathy Kluemper and husband, Don, Huntingburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons; Marvin and Jeffrey Blessinger, two sisters, Delores Wehr and Margie Rasche, and three brothers, Jerome, Allen and Robert Lee Hasenour.
Funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-80 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services on Tuesday at the church. The Blessed Virgin Sodality of Holy Family will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
