ROADS CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING; FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS ISSUED

flash-flood-warningThe Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says the Jasper – Dubois Road South of State Road 545 is now covered by water as is Schnellville Road near County Road 400 East.   Old Huntingburg Road is now closed as well between Jasper and Huntingburg.

Motorists are being advised to avoid these areas and other low lying roads that are also prone to flooding as there are flash flood warnings out (see below).

Some of the flood waters covering roads have swift currents which can literally pick light vehicles up and push them off the roadway.  As little as six inches can lift some cars.

Authorities are waiting for daylight when they expect to find more roads flooded.

Also… Indiana State Police have shut down I-64 between the 67 and 68-mile markers because of flooding.

Locally, nearly three inches of rain has falling
