Huntingburg, Ind. – The City of Huntingburg’s Water Department is conducting their hydrant flushing program beginning Monday, March 31, 2014.
The flushing cycle will be:
– South of 6th Street and west of Main Street: Monday, March 31 to Friday, April 4
– North of 6th Street and east of Main Street: Monday, April 7 to Friday, April 11
– South of 6th Street and East of Main Street: Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 18
– North of 6th Street and west of Main Street: Monday, April 21 to Friday, April 25
Flushing is performed to improve water quality. It purges excess mineral sediment that may have accumulated from lines and low circulation points. Flushing also improves pressures and flow rates needed for fire protection, aids in maintaining proper valve and hydrant operation and helps to provide better overall water service to our customers.
Water will remain safe to drink; however, special care and attention is recommended, especially before doing laundry. Customers are advised to run cold water through their taps for 5 to 7 minutes to clear any discoloration in the water that may adversely affect laundry items. The City of Huntingburg is not responsible for the cleaning and/or replacement of those items.
Flushing times will typically be Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Locations may vary from day to day.
