The evening started after HPD was called to Campbell’s northside home in the Pleasant View apartment complex shortly before 9pm for a possible battery incident.  There they found 38-year old Robert Mathies who old police Campbell battered him.  Police say Mathies had bloody scratch marks down both sides of his face, scratch marks on his chest and rib cage.  Mathies’ shirt was also torn below his right arm pit. Mathies was also complaining of pain to his groin area.  He told police Campbell kicked him there.

Campbell was not home when police arrived.   At about 10:2opm, police found Campbell on the dance floor at Ron’s Place, a bar in the 500 block of Van Buren Street.  But as they were escorting her outside for questioning about the alleged battery on her boyfriend, police say Campbell became combative and started kicking at the officers.  Police say she continued to fight with officers, kicking and scratching at the them.  All this while she claimed she had a highly contagious disease.

Police were able to get Campbell into the back of an HPD squad car.  While inside the car, police say Campbell kicked out the passenger side window.

After getting her under control, police took Campbell to Memorial Hospital for medical clearance.  Memorial staff also treated the police officers including blood tests as a precaution.  The officers were then released medically by the hospital.

After being released by Memorial, Campbell was then taken to the Dubois County Security Center.
