Jasper police arrested 28-year old Luke Zimmerman (pictured) late Friday morning following a routine traffic stop for him not wearing a seatbelt.
It was actually a Dubois County Sheriff’s deputy that pulled over Zimmerman’s pickup truck near Brames Road and Hochgesang Avenue shortly before 12 Noon.
The deputy called for backup because he says Zimmerman was acting suspiciously. JPD officers responded.
A short time later, officers found property in Zimmerman’s possession that was reported stolen a little more than a week ago from Buffalo Flats storage units on North Mill Street.
Zimmerman, who police says is homeless, has been charged with two counts of receiving stolen property (D felony).
Police say their investigation of Zimmerman as a suspect in this and other cases in Dubois County continues. He is also a suspect in pending cases in Pike County.
