Cats Fall In 3A Regional Semis; Jeeps 1A Runs End In Regional Final

ihsaaAll Dubois County teams have now been eliminated from the 2014 IHSAA Boys Basketball Tournament.

Saturday afternoon, Evansville Memorial jumped out to a 14-2 lead on the Jasper Wildcats and coasted the rest of the way to bump Jasper from the 3A Regional tournament with 72-43 win over the Wildcats at Washington.

Jasper’s season, which did include the team’s first 3A sectional title in 12 years, ends at 14-10 with the loss.  The Wildcats also shared the Big 8 Conference title with Princeton.  Their first title, shared or outright since 2001.

Saturday night, the Northeast Dubois Jeeps’ run in the 1A tournament came to an end as they fall to 1A #1 Barr-Reeve 69-60 in the regional final at Loogootee.  Earlier in the day, the Jeeps held off Lanesville, 55-53 to advance to the regional final.

The Jeeps who turned around their season after a poor start end the year at 12-13, A year that included the ninth sectional title in school history.  The Jeeps were trying to win their first regional title since 2000 Saturday night.
