Downed Power Line Starts Field Fire North Of Crystal; Burns Two Acres

Dubois Volunteer Firefighters were called to the report of a woods fire early Friday afternoon.
The fire was on property of the Jeff Lomax residence on North 960 East, north of Crystal.
DVFD spokesman Jeff Eichmiller says that when firefighters arrived, they found a wooded area of about two acres burning. The fire was contained to the two acres as firefighters were able to quickly put out the fire.
The cause of the fire was determined to be from a power line that was broken due to a tree falling over it from the windy conditions.
There was no damage to personal property during the incident.
There were 18 firemen with three trucks responding to the scene and were there about 35 minutes.
