HPD Releases New Handgun Permit Application Information

HRKY_gun_permitsFrom Huntingburg Police Department

On January 1, 2014, the Indiana State Police began processing all fingerprints through tyhe Automated Fingerprint Identification system.  In the past, when fingerprints did not meet the control standards, those fingerprints were returned to the police department and a reprints of the applicant was necessary, causing a delay in receiving their handgun permit.

To help reduce this problem, starting March 10, 2014, the Huntingburg Police Department will no longer print applicants on paper cards.  Instead, residents of the City of Huntingburg will ned to schedule electronic fingerprinting through MorphoTrust.

Representatives with MorphoTrust are in Jasper on Tuesdays from 8:00am – 4:30pm.  Residents can call MorphoTrust directly at 1-877-472-6917 to schedule their appointment or they may do it electronically when completing the on-line permit application.

For any questions regarding this new procedure, please contact the Huntingburg Police Department at 683-3003.
