Local Man Arrested Again On Drug Charges

bRYANTA Jasper man has been arrested for the second time in less than a week on drug charges.

21-year old Jeremy Bryant (pictured) was arrested by Jasper police at the Days Inn Monday morning after patrons there complained of suspected drug use at the local motel.

Police say they made contact with Bryant, who now lives in Jasper, as he was walking away from the Days Inn.  Police say they found a marijuana pipe on Bryant while conducting a patdown.  Police then asked Bryant for consent to search a duffle bag he was carrying.  When he refused, JPD brought in the department’s K-9, Ares.  Police say Ares detected the presence of an odor of a controlled substance coming from the duffle bag.

Police then searched the duffle bag and located another marijuana pipe and approximately 68 grams of marijuana, individually bagged.  Police also found digital scales in the duffle bag.

Bryant is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute along with possession of paraphernalia and an additional charge of possession of marijuana.

This is the second time Bryant has been arrested in the last week.   A week ago Monday, he was charged following a a verbal argument between he and his then roommate of a mobile home in Huntingburg.

After breaking up the argument, Huntingburg Police found numerous drug paraphernalia along with marijuana, and schedule 2, 3, and 4 controlled substances at the mobile home.

Bryant was charged with a Class D felony count of Possession of Scheduled 3 Controlled Substances and a D felony count of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Back in Jasper, after Bryant was taken into custody, JPD officers made contact with two other men who were walking away from the Days Inn.  One of the men, 23-year old Tyler Russell of Dale.  Police say he was wanted on a Dubois County warrant on an unrelated charge.
