Jeffrey L. Kearby, 55, Dubois

KearbyJeffrey L. Kearby, 55, of Dubois, died Wednesday (February 26) at his home. He was born January 6, 1959, in French Lick to John and Bessie (Watts) Kearby. He married Laquita Schley December 14, 2006.

Jeff was a 1977 graduate of Springs Valley High School. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He worked for Craftsman Construction, Jasper Lumber Company and the Lauth Group. He attended the Nicholson Valley Christian Church and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post No. 76 in French Lick.

He is survived by his wife, Laquita Kearby, Lafayette; one daughter, Krystal Draughn and husband Scott, Indianapolis, one stepdaughter, Brittany Shoaf, San Francisco; two stepsons, Stanley Reid, Columbus and Robert Shoaf, Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Kennedy Kunkel, Hannah Draughn, James, Kamryn and Shiley Reid, and Maddock and Traven Shoaf; three sisters, Janet Weaver and husband David, French Lick, Judy Carlson and husband Harold,  Santa Clara, California,  and Joyce Kearby, French Lick; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, brother, Glenn Kearby.

Services at 1 p.m. Sunday at T.L Pinnick Mortuary, 785 South Bears Bend Road, French Lick, with Rev. Al Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Chapel Cemetery in Paoli on Monday.
