Cecelia F. Miller, 86, of Ireland, died Sunday (February 23) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Celestine on October 18, 1927, to Nick and Katherine (Spellmeyer) Mehringer. She married Sylvester L. Miller April 15, 1947, in St. Celestine Catholic Church. He died August 24, 1994.
Cecelia was a homemaker, and helped on the farm. She also had worked at the Schnitzelbank. She was member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland and the St. Ann’s Society. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are seve daughters, Joan Chappell, Ferdinand, Martha Kitterman, Birdseye, Margaret Colvin and husband, Dave, Montgomery, Sue Seger, and husband, Glenn, Otwell, Linda Johnson and husband, Steadman, French Lick, Shelia Colvin and husband, Neil, Jasper, and Janice Betz, and husband, Hilbert, Schnellville; two sons, John Miller and wife Barb, and Dan Miller and wife Linda, all of Jasper; 27 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren, 10 step great-grandchildren; and six step great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Janie and Brian Kitterman, one great-granddaughter, Kara Kitterman, and one brother, Leo Mehringer.
Funeral services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Ireland St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
