Thomas D. Knoll, 62, Huntingburg

Knoll2Thomas D. Knoll, 62, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (February 15) at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born in LaPorte, May 18, 1951, to Donald and Barbara (Paul) Knoll. He married Lula Rasche May 5, 1973, in Oakland City.

Thomas was a member of the La Lumiere High School class of 1969 and graduated from Purdue University in 1973 with a degree in Aviation Maintenance. He worked as an aviation instructor at the Vincennes University Aviation Technology Center in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg, and the Huntingburg Flight Club. He enjoyed aviation and had received his pilot’s license at the age of 16. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Lula Knoll; one daughter, Barb Knoll and husband Brian Mox, Delaware, Ohio; two sons, Charles Donald Knoll and wife Carla, Oakland City, and Barnaby James Knoll, Ithaca, New York; six grandchildren, Shelby and Cody Georges, Savannah Matthews, Timothy and Charlotte Knoll, and Jacy Mox; and one sister, Donna Snyder, Naperville, Illinois.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper with burial following in Ashby Cemetery in Winslow. Rev. Leslie Coomer will officiate. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vincennes University Aviation Technology Center at Indianapolis.
