Herbert “Herb” J. Schepers, 72, Celestine

Herb SchepersHerbert “Herb” J. Schepers, 72, of Celestine, died Friday (February 14) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born May 24, 1941, in Dubois, to Henry and Ardella (Theising) Schepers. He married Shirley Hasenour May 30, 1964, in St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine. She died July 13, 2013.

Herb was a retired poultry farmer and truck driver and served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of St. Celestine Catholic Church, the Celestine Community Club, where he served as a former officer, the Schnellville Conservation Club, and the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the building committee for the Northeast Dubois High School, enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by two sons, Brad Schepers and wife Giesla, Indianapolis; and Brennan  Schepers and wife Lori, Jasper; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, and Jonathan Schepers, Indianapolis, and Zachary, Noah, Hannah and Ben Schepers, Jasper; one sister, Monica Jahn and husband Jerry, Jasper; and two brothers, Ralph Schepers, Long Beach, California, and Harold Schepers and wife Cecille, Auburn, Maine.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Brian Schepers, and one brother, Jerome Schepers.

Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday  at St. Celestine Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
