Bertha SegerBertha V. Seger, 91, of Jasper, died Tuesday (February 11) at the Providence Home in Jasper. She was born in Dubois May 7, 1922, to Edward and Ehrie (Nordhoff) Rasche. She married Orville Seger May 13, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died June 4, 1997.

Bertha was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Ann’s Society, and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital, Northwood Retirement Community, and the Providence Home for many years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, quilting and crocheting, and walking.

Surviving are two daughters, Judy Seger, Atlanta, and Christine Rue, Jasper; two sons, Nicholas Seger and wife Linda, Evansville, and Michael Seger, Jasper; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Alma Blessinger, Marie Sermersheim, Lucille Rasche, Catherine Lagenour, and Frieda Chanley, and three brothers, Joe, Silas, and Edward Rasche.

Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6 o’clock tonight (Wednesday).
