David E. Hubster, 69, of Jasper, died Tuesday at his home. He was born October 6, 1944, in Huntingburg, to Morris and Lorraine (Kaiser) Hubster. He married Judy Ring September 18, 1965, in Augustana Church in Holland.
Dave retired from Generations, where he worked as a case manager. He also worked part time for Holiday Liquors in Jasper. He also worked in human resource roles for various companies. Dave was an Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam war. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, where he was serving as a church council member and had served on many other committees and ministries. He was a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for children in Dubois County and was a board member of the Dubois County Food Bank. He enjoyed cooking, reading, genealogy, auctions, flea markets, and attending his grandchildren’s activities and events.
Surviving are his wife, Judy Hubster; two daughters, Heather Goodhue and husband James, Jasper, and Sarah LaGrange and husband Aaron, Spencer; one son, David Hubster and wife Stacy, Jasper; seven grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Schraner, Deltona, Florida, and one brother, Morris “Dusty” Hubster, Jr., Holland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James “Bud” Hubster.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, with burial following at a later date. Pastor Debbie Roe will officiate. American Legion Post No. 493 will conduct military rites. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, and C.A.S.A. (Court Appointed Special Advocate) or to a favorite charity.
