Jasper Wins Girls Swim Sectional; Lady Cats & Lady Jeeps Win BB Finales

The Jasper Girls Swim Team won its 8th consecutive IHSAA Sectional, and 15th in school history this afternoon at the JHS Natatorium.

Jasper won all three relays and five of the 9 individual events to outdistance second place Heritage Hills by 210 points (492-282).   Jasper’s 200 Freestyle Relay team of Addison Nolan (SR), Payton Painter (SO), Olivia Krodel (SO) and Emma Hopf (FR) shattered the school record by nearly 11 seconds with a winning time of 1:52:02.

Southridge won the other three individual events.  The Lady Raiders finished 5th out of the 11 schools participating in the sectional (249)    Northeast  Dubois finished 8th overall (101).

We’ll have highlights from today’s sectional later this evening here on NNDC.

On the basketball court, both the Northeast Dubois and Jasper girls played Saturday matinees at home to finish the 2014 regular season.  These were games rescheduled after being postponed by the recent winter storms.

The 1A #14 Lady Jeeps upset 2A #8 North Knox at home 49-30 on “Senior Day,” and seniors Haley Kinder and Emily Lueken lead NDHS with 13 points apiece.   We’ll have highlights from Dubois later tonight here on NNDC.

And Jasper blew out Terre Haute South by the final of 73-45.  Juniors Maddi Uebelhor and Elisabeth Ahlbrand led the Lady Cats with 18 points each.

The girls basketball sectionals begin next week.
