Woman Backs Car Into Police Cruiser; Arrested For OWI

Wallace-AderHuntingburg police say 44-year old Sonja Wallace-Ader of Loogootee (pictured) was arrested late Monday night on a charge of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated.

Police say they observed Wallace’s car traveling at a high rate of speed in the 1000 block of North Main Street (U. S. 231) at about 11:45pm.  Police followed the vehicle on North Main when officers then observed the car traveling left of center in the 1300 block.

A traffic stop was initiated by police in the 1900 block of North Main Street.  After Wallace-Ader stopped her car on the shoulder of the highway, police say she then put her vehicle into reverse and the car traveled backwards and into the HPD patrol vehicle.

Police say a chemical test done on scene determined that Wallace-Ader had a blood alcohol content of .21% (the legal limit in Indiana is .08%) and she was taken into custody.

Police also say there was some minor damage to Wallace-Ader’s car after it struck the HPD patrol car.  However, there was no damage to the police vehicle.
