Ralph M. Lueken, 78, Schnellville

Ralph LuekenRalph M. Lueken, 78, died Friday (January 31) at his home. He was born August 25, 1935, in Schnellville, to Leo and Veronica (Seger) Lueken. He married Alice Sander April 4, 1959, in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.

Ralph was a lifelong farmer and served on the board of directors of the former Dubois County Co-op, (Superior Ag). He also served on the Northeast Dubois School Board as president and vice-president, as president of the Dubois County Pork Producers, a member of the Dubois County FSA County Committee, and Dubois County Bank advisory board. He was a recipient  of the outstanding conservation farmer of the year award, was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville, the Schnellville Conservation Club and the Celestine Community Club. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Lueken; four daughters, Linda Boehm and husband Earl, Jasper, Donna Renner and husband Scott, Ireland, Julie Welp and husband Fred, Schnellville, and Sarah Beck and husband Adam, Celestine; three sons, Ronald Lueken and wife Brenda, Schnellville, Kevin Lueken and wife Kathy, Celestine, Wayne Lueken and wife Pam, Schnellville; 19 grandchildren, one great granddaughter; four sisters, Therese Ernst, Ferdinand, Marie Dall and husband Robert, Ferdinand, Dorothy Bachman and husband Eugene, Jasper, and Janice Hurst, Huntingburg; and two brothers, Louis Lueken and Ray Lueken and wife Aileen, all of Celestine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Nathan and Deven Lueken, and three sisters Rosemary Lueken who died in infancy, Eileen Schuler, and Rosalee Scherle.

Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery.  riends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson’s Association, to the Sacred Heart Cemetery Association, or to a favorite charity.
