Mobel, Inc. To Close At The End Of February

Mobel_Inc.Ferdinand Town officials have yet to receive official word from Mobel, Inc., but the company is reportedly planning to close its Furniture manufacturing plant.

Ferdinand Town Manager Chris James tells NewsNow Dubois County that Town Council President is in the process of meeting with Mobel president Paul Ruhe to talk about the pending closing.

An Evansville TV station reportedly has confirmed the closing with Ruhe, but James say the town has received no notice yet of the plant closing which is also reported to be February 28th.

If Mobel does close, this would mean the loss of approximately 60 jobs.  The plant opened in 1971, and at one time had as many 150 employees.

The news comes on the heels of Masterbrand’s planned expansion of its Ferdinand manufacturing plant. Masterbrand is planning to add as many as 135 new jobs by June 1st.
