“Community Connect” Event Being Held in Huntingburg

Huntingburg, Ind. – In conjunction with the nationwide campaign, “Million Hearts,” a group of community members are hosting “Community Connect,” an informational event aimed at providing community resources to attendees.  The event is being held on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Teen Outback, located at 507 N Main Street in Huntingburg.

“Community Connect” will include healthy food demonstrations and recipes from Purdue Extension; substance abuse awareness from Teen Outback; health insurance education and enrollment opportunities from MDwise Hoosier Alliance; games and heart health resources from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center; healthy relationship promotion from Crisis Connection; health services, energy education and head start information from Tri-Cap; a free exercise class from Tri-County YMCA; blood pressure checks, health history cards and resources from the Waters of Huntingburg; flu shots from Hometown IGA; Huntingburg girls’ softball sign-ups, Huntingburg Little League sign-ups, and a book swap for pre-k to 8th graders from A Kid’s Place, the 21st Century Community Learning Centers of Southwest Dubois County School Corporation’s R.I.D.G.E. program, Huntingburg Public Library and the Guadalupe Center.
