Rosalee “Rosie” R. Rickelman, 80, of Jasper, died Monday (January 20) at the Timbers of Jasper. She was born April 5, 1933 in Jasper, to Othmar and Philomenia “Minnie” (Brames) Kapp. She married Robert Rickelman June 22, 1954, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2013.
Rosie worked for Kimball International for many years, including one year at the Kimball plant in Reynosa, Mexico, when it was established. She also worked for Woodmasters in St. Anthony, and she and her husband owned and operated the Palm Gardens Tavern in Bretzville and the Friendly Inn at Bristow. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, playing cards, and making crafts.
She is survived by three sons, John Rickelman and wife Phyllis, St. Anthony, Bill Rickelman and wife Barbara, Burnstadt, Kentucky, and Pat Rickelman, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina; grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Delmar and Richard Kapp.
Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
