Marlene R. Voegerl, 69, of St. Anthony, died Monday (January 20) at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. She was born December 1, 1944, in Huntingburg, to Victor and Cyrilla (Klem) Kluemper. She married Ralph Voegerl January 12, 1963, at St. Anthony Church in St. Anthony.
Marlene worked for Kimball International for many years, from which she retired. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, and the church’s Christian Mother’s Sodality. She enjoyed gardening, attending her grandchildren’s events, and spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph Voegerl; one daughter, Denise Schnell and husband Rick, Schnellville; one son, Steve Voegerl and wife Kim, Ferdinand; five grandchilden, Tara Leisman, Brooke Mohr, Matt Schnell, Josh Voegerl, and Braydon Voegerl; four great-grandchildren, Dylan, Caydan, and Reece Leisman, and Ava Mohr; three sisters, Marilyn Luegers and husband Mike, Jasper, Mary Huff and husband Steve, St. Anthony, and Marcia Dall and husband Keith, Fishers, Indiana; and one brother, Mark Kluemper and his companion Michelle Koontz, St. Anthony.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Kluemper.
Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services at the church. The Christian Mothers of St. Anthony will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
