Jasper Man Arrested For Burglary; Other Charges

Berg31-year old Mathew Berg (pictured) of Jasper has been arrested for his role in an early Monday morning burglary.

Berg was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he admitted stole an Ipad S Air, a Kindle Fire and a 32′ HD television from a home in the 2400 block of Terry Lane.

Berg became a suspect after police shortly after their investigation began.  Berg was brought into JPD headquarters for questioning and initially he said he and another man committed the burglary.  Police say upon further investigation it was determined that Berg acted alone and he later admitted that he was the sole person responsible for the burglary.

Berg is now charged with Burglary (Class B felony), Theft (Class D Felony) and False Informing (A Misdemeanor).

If found guilty on the Burglary charge alone, Berg could get between six to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Police say all the stolen items were recovered.
