Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 at Dubois Middle School.
The town hall meetings are being held so the county’s election board can gather input from the public about the proposed centralized voting centers which are designed to replace traditional neighborhood polling precincts. If the county goes to using the voting centers, registered voters could then cast their ballot at any vote center in the county on Election Day instead of having to vote at a specific precinct polling place.
Other town hall meetings about the voting centers are scheduled for January 21st at Jasper High School, January 23rd at Southridge High School in Huntingburg, and January 28th at Forest Park Junior-Senior High School in Ferdinand.
Twelve counties in Indiana have switched or are currently in the process of switching to vote centers.
