Helen Batch, 86, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (January 7) at The Waters of Huntingburg Nursing Center. She was born November 16, 1927, in Dubois County, to Oscar and Verona (Whitsitt) Heim. She married Jesse B. Batch August 12, 1944, at the Salem parsonage in Huntingburg. He died June 16, 1991.
Helen worked for many years as a laundromat attendant at the Holiday Laundromat in Huntingburg. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and a volunteer at the Distribution Center and Food Pantry operated by Salem Church and the Christian Ministries of Huntingburg.
She is survived by one brother, Jim Heim and wife Tonya, Holland; two sisters,
Mary Morris Dale, and Clara Fay Rust and husband Don, Huntingburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Heim, and three sisters, Kathryn Sickbert, Norma Jean Hollander, and Jane Heim.
Funeral services at 4 p.m. (EST) Saturday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Rev. Mark West will officiate at the services. Friends may call from noon-4 p-m. Saturday at the funeeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shared Abundance Distribution Center and Food Bank.
