Three Injured In Separate Accidents On Icy County Roads

4453Three people were injured in separate traffic accidents on icy roads in Dubois County on Monday.

Late Monday afternoon, 19-year old Zachery Andry  of French Lick was injured in an accident on Indiana 56 about a mile-and-a-half east of the Dubois Crossroads.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says Andry lost control of his SUV on the ice-covered highway at about 4:50pm.  Deputies say the eastbound car left the southside of the road and struck a telephone pole before coming to rest.    Andry suffered a leg injury and was pinned in the vehicle.   Andry was extricated from the car by members of the Dubois Volunteer Fire Department.  He was transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for treatment.  The car was a total loss.

A second accident about an hour later on Portersville Road injured a rural Jasper man.  DCSD deputies say 18-year old Paul Bingle was driving his pickup truck at a high rate of speed on Portersville Road West when he lost control on the icy roadway.   Deputies say the pickup went off the road before going down a large embankment and overturning.    Both Bingle and a passenger in the truck with him, 17-year old Nicholas Borden of rural Jasper suffered cuts to their hands.  Both refused treatment at the scene.
The pickup truck was a total loss.
