Verena Schroeder, 88, Jasper

Verena SchroederVerena Schroeder, 88, died Saturday (December 28) at her home. She was born October 8, 1925, to Edward and Catherine (Kluemper) Hopf. She married Norbert Schroeder June 8, 1948.

Verena was a wife and homemaker and worked at various retail and cleaning jobs. She did volunteer work for her community and Precious Blood Church. She bound over 2,000 quilts for Precious Blood and other organizations.

She is survived by her husband, Norbert Schroeder; one daughter, Patty Rose; two sons, Eugene Schroder and Thomas Schroder and wife Jo Ann, one son-in-law, Jerry Vestweber; one sister, Bernie Schnell (Hip); two sisters-in-law, Kathy (Luckie) and Theresa Hopf; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret (Schroeder) Vestweber; three sisters, Loretta Burgan and husband, George, Dorothy Senninger and husband, Roman, and Sister Mary Gabriel, C.P. (Ardella), and four brothers, Ambrose and wife Dorothy Mae, Rev. Linus, Emil, and Harold (Bud) Hopf.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Precious Blood Church in Jasper, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Norbert and Verena Schroeder Charitable Trust for Precious Blood.
