A chain reaction crash Monday afternoon on Jasper’s far northside resulted in four people being transported to Memorial Hospital.
Jasper police say a pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Jeffrey Verkamp of rural Schnellville failed to stop for stopped traffic just south of 32nd Street resulting in a chain-reaction accident. A total of four vehicles were damaged including Verkamp’s pickup.
Verkamp’s pickup struck a car driven by 38-year old Douglas Miller of Huntingburg. Verkamp told JPD his attention was diverted for just a moment before the impact.
Miller and two passengers in his car were transported to Memorial Hospital complaining of back pain.
Verkamp was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision.
