Elizabeth F. “Betty” Morris, 90, of Birdseye, died Tuesday (December 17) at The Timbers of Jasper. She was born in Kyana June 5, 1923, to Martin and Mary (Gunselman) Steffen. She married Harry L. Morris November 4, 1940, in St. Martin Catholic Church in Siberia. He died January 7, 1981.
Surviving are six daughters, Sharron Cross, Princeton, Kentucky, Shirley Grundhoefer, Owensboro, Kentucky; Doris Pfaff and husband John, Birdseye, Donna Hasenour and husband Michael, Huntingburg, Debra Kunkler and husband John “Koonie,” Dale, and Ruth Rasche and husband Lester, Ferdinand; one stepdaughter, Mary Lou Foster, Galena; 25 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David and Dennis Morris, four brothers, Lawrence, Sylvester, John and Aloysius Steffen, and two sisters, Matilda Abell and Clara Gunselman.
Funeral services at 10 a.m. (CST) Saturday in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday and 7-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
