Local school corporations have announced changes to their respective school calendars after all four were forced to use three snow days recently thanks to the first major snowstorm of the season.
Monday, the Greater Jasper Consolidated School corporation announced that classes will resume a day early following the annual Christmas/Winter Break. Students will return Thursday, January 2nd, instead of Friday, January 3rd as intitally scheduled.
Jasper has five snow days built into its 180-day school calendar. Jasper schools plan to use January 20th (Dr. Martin Luther King Day) and February 17th to make up the other two lost snow days to make up for the other lost snow days.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Dubois School Corporation will return from the winter break on January 3rd instead of Monday, January 5th as first scheduled. Students will also be in class February 17th (Presidents Days) and April 18th to make up for the lost snow days.
Southeast county schools will also return on January 2nd. Schools will also be in session now on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 20th, and February 14th, Valentines Day.
Northeast schools will also return from winter break early on Friday, January 3 instead of the following Monday. Northeast schools will also be in session on Valentines Day (February 14th) and February 18th.
