Robert L. Bachman, 72, Jasper

Robert BachmanRobert L. Bachman, age 72, of Jasper, passed away Friday (December 13) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Jasper July 26, 1941, to Albert and Eleanor (Seger) Bachman. He married Marietta Boeckman April 11, 1964, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church.

Bob worked at Central Tractor for 27 years and then retired from Wright Stemle, where he had worked for 17 years. He also served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Dubois High School Class of 1959. He enjoyed doing yardwork, walking, traveling, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Marietta Bachman; one daughter, Angie Wollenmann and husband Mark, Ferdinand; one son,
Keith Bachman and wife Dana, Jasper; six grandchildren, Adam Persohn and wife Shay, Indianapolis, Emily Persohn, Ferdinand, Sydney and Taylor Bachman, Jasper, Ashley Wagner and husband Adam, St. Anthony, and Whitney Ahner and husband Ray, Greenfield; one sister, Mary Moeller and husband Dennis, Jasper; four brothers, James Bachman, Thomas Bachman, and wife Charlene, Eugene Bachman and wife Dorothy, and Kenneth Bachman and wife Margie, all of Jasper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Schmitt and Helen Teder, and two siblings who died in infancy, William and Ruth Bachman.

Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. American Legion Post No. 147 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family for a memorial dedicated to the Jasper Riverwalk. Online condolences can be made at
